Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of Crossroads Hospice Society. With over 225 individuals donating their valuable time and energy, we are able to provide support and care to our community. From giving a few hours a week to making a life-long commitment, our volunteers help us support patients, families and clients. Volunteers provide support, companionship and comfort, support fundraising efforts and operations of our Thrift Store, as well as help in administration roles.

Ways to Volunteer:

Become a Hospice Visiting Volunteer

Our Visiting Volunteers provide emotional support to patients and family members during their time at our Crossroads Hospice Residence. In addition to being a compassionate presence, these Volunteers help provide tours of Hospice, deliver meal trays to patients, and facilitate our Hospice programs. For more information about becoming a Visiting Volunteer, please contact Lana at lana@crossroadshospice.org or (604) 949-2271.

Become a Bereavement Volunteer

We believe that no one needs to walk their grief journey alone. Our Bereavement Volunteers offer reassurance and encouragement to individuals after their loved one has died. Volunteers act as one-to-one Grief Support Companions, as well as help facilitate our grief support groups. In order to become a Bereavement Volunteers, individuals must first complete the Visiting Volunteer training.

Become a Thrift Store Volunteer

Volunteers get to experience a variety of responsibilities in the operation of our Thrift Store. From assisting customers and cashiering, to sorting through and pricing donated goods, there are many opportunities to give back to the community through involvement with our Thrift Store. If you are interested in becoming a Thrift Store Volunteer, stop by the store to meet our store manager and pick up or drop off a Volunteer Application Form. For more information, call 604-949-0459. A copy of the Volunteer Application Form can also be printed from here.

Become a Special Event Volunteer

Throughout the year, Crossroads Hospice Society needs volunteers to help with special and community events. There are chances to help with our annual Hike for Hospice and Treasures of Christmas Gala, in addition to representing our Society at community events. If you are interested in becoming a Special Event Volunteer, please email brittanyc@crossroadshospice.org

Become a Board of Directors Volunteer

Our Board sets strategic direction and assumes financial and governance responsibilities for Crossroads and is guided by the organization’s values of compassion, respect, dignity, integrity and excellence. This is an exciting time to join Crossroads as we embark on the development of a new Strategic Plan which will guide our future direction. If you have strong team skills, understand non-profit governance, can contribute through thoughtful collaboration and consideration, have a strategic perspective gained through a combination of experience and education and want to be involved in an organization that is having a positive impact on the community, this may be an opportunity for you. If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Board of Directors, call 604-554-0545.
